When you walk into MB Motors at 700 Ohio St in Bellingham, you're not walking into a corporation. You're walking into a business that a family started in 2009, built from the ground up, and grew into the largest independent dealer in Washington State — still showing up for Whatcom County drivers and customers nationwide.

Fifteen-plus years later, we're still here. The inventory has grown, the service department has expanded, and we've shipped vehicles to buyers in all 50 states. But the fundamental thing hasn't changed: when you deal with MB Motors, you deal with real people who put their name on every car on the lot.

We want you to know who we are.

How MB Motors Started

MB Motors opened its doors in Bellingham in 2009, coming out of the financial downturn with a simple foundation: sell good used vehicles at honest prices, treat customers the way you'd want to be treated, and build a business on repeat customers and referrals rather than high-pressure tactics. That approach is what grew us into the largest independent dealer in the state.

That foundation still holds. Most of our business comes from customers who came back, or from people those customers sent our way. That's the metric we care about most.

Our Sales Team

Our sales team is made up of people who live in this community — who know the roads, know the weather, know what it means to drive over the North Cascades or commute on I-5 every day. When someone on our team recommends a vehicle for your situation, it's because they've thought about your situation, not because it has the highest margin.

We don't use high-pressure sales tactics. We don't manufacture urgency ("this car has three other people looking at it right now") because we find it disrespectful. Our approach: tell you everything we know about a vehicle, answer your questions honestly, and let you make the decision that's right for you.

If you've had unpleasant dealership experiences elsewhere — we hear this often — we hope you'll give us a chance to show you what buying a car from a family business feels like.

Our Service Department

Our service team is something we're genuinely proud of. Our technicians are ASE-certified, which means they've passed independent examinations across specific service areas and maintain those credentials over time. Certification is displayed in our service department because we think customers should be able to verify who's working on their car.

Our service department handles:

  • Oil changes and routine maintenance
  • Brakes, tires, and suspension
  • AC service and diagnostics
  • Transmission service
  • Engine diagnostics and repair
  • Full DriveSecure protection plan service

We work on all makes and models — not just vehicles purchased from us. Customers drive in from Ferndale, Mount Vernon, Lynden, Anacortes, Burlington, and all across Whatcom and Skagit counties because they've found a service department they trust.

And here's something that matters to us: when we find something during a routine service, we tell you — and we show you. We don't add things to invoices without explaining what we found and why it matters. If it's not urgent, we'll tell you that too.

Our Finance Department

Getting financed for a vehicle is often the most stressful part of the buying process, especially for buyers with challenging credit, no credit history, or complex income situations (self-employed, recent job change, etc.).

We work with more than 50 lending partners specifically because we want to be able to say yes when other dealerships have said no. First-time buyers, buyers recovering from bankruptcy or a repossession, buyers with thin credit files — we've helped all of these people find workable financing.

Our finance team will always show you all the numbers: interest rate, term, total cost of financing. We don't bury fees.

Customer Reviews: What Our Community Says

Over 16+ years, we've built a body of real reviews from real customers — not manufactured testimonials. You can read them on Google and on our website. The themes that come up repeatedly: honest communication, transparent pricing, no pressure, and a service experience that feels genuinely different from the big-dealership experience.

We're not perfect. Sometimes a vehicle has an issue we didn't catch. Sometimes a deal takes longer than expected. When that happens, we try to make it right — because our reputation is worth more to us than any individual transaction.

Serving Whatcom County and the Nation

Our primary home is Bellingham and Whatcom County. We're here for local buyers, for service customers throughout the region, and for the neighbor down the street who needs a reliable car.

But we've also shipped vehicles to buyers across the country — from Alaska to Florida. Our fly-and-drive program has brought buyers from California, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, and beyond. We handle out-of-state titling, remote financing, and cross-country transport regularly.

Whether you're five miles away or five time zones away, you deserve the same honest, transparent experience. That's what we aim for every day.
